[BRADY CRYING]
SASHA: Someone doesn't sound too happy.
TRUDY: Yeah.
SASHA: Great party last night.
TRUDY: Uh-huh.

Scene 2
Interior - Amber's Room - Daytime
AMBER: What are you doing here?
SASHA: I had to see you. I got an idea.
AMBER: An idea for what?
SASHA: Something you'll be absolutely crazy about.
AMBER: [Laughs] You're nuts! You know that?
SASHA: Nuts over you would be more precise. Now what do you say?
AMBER: To what?
SASHA: My idea?
AMBER: Sasha you haven't told me what your idea is yet!
SASHA: I do believe your right.
AMBER: So?
SASHA: So why don't you and I have a day out? If we set off now we'll have the whole day together. I've thought about it. You need a break from this place, and nobody will be doing much today anyway and I know we'll enjoy ourselves. So what do you say?
AMBER: I think I like the idea of it.
SASHA: So that's a yes?
AMBER: But where would we go?
SASHA: I know just the place.

ZANDRA: Hi. Big boy. You snore.
LEX: No I don't.
ZANDRA: Yes you do.
LEX: I don't! You've got to sleep to snore, and I don't remember sleeping.
ZANDRA: What do you remember?
LEX: Oh! The crackling on the pig- the Hooch-
ZANDRA: Lex!
LEX: And all that singing!
ZANDRA: I mean, what do you remember about last night?
LEX: Well I've been meaning to tell you actually Zan-
ZANDRA: What?
LEX: I've got this trouble with my memory- so you'll have to remind me.

[SALENE BEING SICK & CRYING]
SASHA: Where's your sense of wilderness?
AMBER: You've got to be kidding! What have I let myself in for here?!

ZANDRA: I've got a nice smelly fish for you-
RYAN: Urghh!

RYAN: What do you two want?
KID: Hi... how are you doing? Uhm... Fancy a jellybean?

ZANDRA: So, what would you like then, oh hungry one? Beans with egg, egg with egg, beans with beans, beans egg and beans, or am egg and bean sandwich?
LEX: Say it again- beans-?
ZANDRA: I'm trying to make my husband breakfast!
LEX: Okay okay! But I've got a better idea.
ZANDRA: Which is? And no jokes - Im hungry too.
LEX: Right, well we're married, yeah?
ZANDRA: Yeah.
LEX: And this is the first morning of our honeymoon- right?
ZANDRA: Right...
LEX: Well if this were a real honeymoon- I mean in normal times, we'd probably be in some posh hotel somewhere being waited on by all kinds of people.
ZANDRA: Lex will you come to the point?
LEX: The point is I don't want my wife slaving over a hot stove the morning after her wedding. That's the point.
ZANDRA: You mean your going to cook breakfast?
LEX: Do me a favour-!
ZANDRA: Well what then?

LEX: Ryan! Beans on toast, twice, and quick!

[Brady cries]

LEX: Ryan! Do you hear me?!
PATSY: Poor Zandra. Fancy having to live with that.
CLOE: KC? He doesn't look well at all.
PATSY: Serves him right.
CLOE: It was Lex. He brought the drink.
PATY: But he didn't force him to drink it, did he? Don't take it out on Bob! He's just being friendly!
KC: Look, just leave me alone, can't you? I want to die in peace.
CLOE: Die! He's not really-!?
PATSY: Of course not. As long as no-one strikes a match near his breath. Puh!
CLOE: Is there something we could get you KC?
KC: Go away!
CLOE: A drink of water? Some tea?
PATSY: A greasy sausage? [KC is sick] I guess not.

RYAN: Oh yeah.
KID: Cats, dogs, anything. You with a tribe?
RYAN: No.
KID: You wanna start one?
RYAN: What for?
KID: Sometimes you need someone to rely on, who can watch your back for you. Like me and Mick, we look after each other.
RYAN: I've done all that looking after people stuff - I look after myself now.
AMBER & SASHA LAUGHING
RYAN: Quick hide!
KID: Who is it?
RYAN: Daemon Dogs. Don't do that!
KID: Thanks.
AMBER: What are you staring at?
SASHA: I'm logging you into my memory banks, from every angle.
AMBER: Why?
SASHA: Just in case.
KID: Are they as mean as they say? Daemon Dogs?
[RYAN mimes slitting his throat]
SASHA: Hey, race you to the gate!

AMBER: Now, when are you going to tell me where we are going?
SASHA: When we get there. Its not far now. Come on!

Interior - Café - Daytime
TRUDY: Salene.
SALENE: Hi.
TRUDY: Do you need something?
SALENE: No. Food? No way. I had enough last night to last me a week- two weeks! How about you?
TRUDY: It was good.
SALENE: Good? I think it was the best meal I've ever had! How's Brady?
TRUDY: Oh. Fine. Well not so fine, she's had a couple of restless nights. Did you know Jack's leg's worse? He's in real pain.
SALENE: Huh? That's good. If you need someone to baby-sit let me know okay? I'll see you around.

Interior - Jack's Room - Daytime
BRAY: What did you give him?
DAL: Pain killers. He can't have any more yet.
JACK: No... Why not?
DAL: You just can't.
JACK: Look where's Amber? She'll let me have more.
CLOE: Patsy hasn't been able to find her yet. She's gone off looking again.
DAL: It doesn't matter. She would have said the same as me, you can only have a certain amount of painkillers at one time.
JACK: Yeah but what good are pain killers if they don't stop the pain?
DAL: Have you learnt nothing? Remember what happened to Trudy?
BRAY: Still no sign of Amber?
PATSY: I brought Tai-San instead.
JACK: Arghh!
TAI-SAN: Is it just when you move or is there an ache all the time.
JACK: All the time, and then when I move, wham!
TAI-SAN: Try to accommodate your pain Jack. Breath in through your nose, out through your mouth. Slowly. Good. Remember, it is your pain, you are in charge. Don't let it take over. There, is that a little better?
JACK: No!
TAI-SAN: Just as I suspected, the leg is broken. We'll need to construct a splint of some kind. But first-
KC: Sorry Jack.
TAI-SAN: Comfrey.
JACK: What?
BRAY: Net Balm.
TAI-SAN: It's an old herbal remedy, used for helping broken bones to heal.
JACK: You're not going to put that on my leg are you? I mean, what's in it?!
TAI-SAN: Comfrey Leaves of course. We'll need a sheet for a bandage. KC would you...

CLOE: Bray, I'm scared. Things are scary. Nobody's around. Well hardly nobody and everyone seems to be doing what they want, instead of the rules and that.
BRAY: It's just the wedding, its disrupted the whole routine.
CLOE: But there's a funny feeling about, like it was when all the grownups went.
BRAY: I'm sorry, I don't know what you mean.
CLOE: Like- like someone's died.
BRAY: Hey nobody's died Cloe.
CLOE: I know that but it feels like it.
BRAY: Is this all because Amber's not here?
CLOE: Or Sasha, or Ryan. Nobody's seen Ryan, or Salene. They've all just gone.
BRAY: Well nobody likes change Cloe, but things can't stay the same forever.
CLOE: What do you mean?
BRAY: Only-
CLOE: Do you know something that your not telling us?
BRAY: No. No that's being paranoid.
CLOE: What's paranoid?
BRAY: You know, irrational. Imagining things.
CLOE: Well if I am then everyone is, cause we're all feeling the same right now. You wouldn't leave us, would you Bray?

KID: What do you want?
SALENE: Roanne.
KID: I might be able to help you myself.
SALENE: No! I want to see Roanne.
KID: Are you always this unfriendly?
SALENE: Look just tell her I'm here!
[They fight]
ROANNE: Mick! Salene, how nice to see you. Now what can I do for you?
SALENE: I was just wondering if there was anything I could do for you?
ROANNE: For me?
SALENE: I have a fair amount of spare time, and I thought there must be something? Taking messages, cooking? I can cook!
ROANNE: Salene are you trying to tell me you have nothing to trade?
SALENE: Well not this time no, but I am useful-
ROANNE: Sorry.
SALENE: What!
ROANNE: Salene you know the rules: no trade, no food. Now stop wasting my time.
SALENE: But wait! You don't understand!
ROANNE: I've been thinking, its not good business to turn clients away; especially regulars like you.
SALENE: What are you saying?
ROANNE: I think we can work something out.

BRAY: What do you want?
TRUDY: Bray-
BRAY: Cause honestly Trudy I'm not in the mood for any of your drama's right now!
TRUDY: When were you ever? Unless you were playing the hero of course.
BRAY: Well what is it? I'm busy.
TRUDY: I can see that. The thing is Bray, I need your help.
BRAY: Oh well there's a surprise!
TRUDY: Not for me, for the little ones. You have to help me Bray, everyone else has gone awol today, Ryan and Salene. Lex and Zandra might as well not be here. And Amber- I know your upset about Amber.
BRAY: Leave me alone Trudy! I mean it!

SASHA: Happy?
AMBER: Um-hum. How about you?
SASHA: Happier then I've ever been since- well- since you know when.
AMBER: Do you think of your family often?
SASHA: All the time.
AMBER: Me too. I wonder what they'd be doing, what I'd be doing, and what they would think of me if they could see me now.
SASHA: I think they'd be very proud.
AMBER: Oh no!
SASHA: Oh yes! How could they not be, with a daughter so beautiful, intelligent, caring...
AMBER: Sasha! You'll have me blushing in a minute! I miss my dad the most, he used to stay with me in the dark. I was always afraid of the dark. What about you? Do you take after your parents?
SASHA: Dad was a bit of an extravert. I get showing off from him. I took after mom the most. I've got a photo here. Look.
AMBER: Did you really have your hair that short?
SASHA: If your going to mock!
AMBER: What are you thinking?
SASHA: That, if I could take a day, and pin it on the wall, as an example of how every day should be from now on, this would be the one. Did I say something wrong?
AMBER: No. Just right. I wish today could go on forever.
SASHA: It can go on as long as you want.
AMBER: We can't stay here forever, it will be getting dark soon.
SASHA: Does that still scare you?
AMBER: Funnily enough, no.
SASHA: Why not?
AMBER: Because I know you'll be here with me. Its just-
SASHA: What?
AMBER: I don't know if I'm ready for this.
SASHA: Change your mind?
AMBER: No. No not at all.
