CLOE: Maybe hes gone out to find some other deaf children, and bring them here.
PATSY: He hasnt! That horrible Lex being mean to him! I want my brother! [CRIES]
CLOE: Dont cry, tell you what, shall we go and see if the hens have laid any eggs? I bet Henrietta has.
PATSY: And Clara. Claras best.
CLOE: Lets go see. Come on Bob.

SALENE: Hi.
BRAY: What are you doing?
SALENE: Trying to feed Brady. Poor little mite.
BRAY: Does Trudy know?
SALENE: Doesnt care, does she?
BRAY: Are you sure?
SALENE: Shes not fit to look after her.
BRAY: She cant help it Salene, shes not well.
SALENE: Yeah. Sure. All the same, your better off with me arent you sweetie? Id make a much better mother, wouldnt I?
BRAY: Well where is Trudy?
SALENE: I dont know. Still asleep I guess.
CLOE: Henrietta laid us an egg for breakfast.
PATSY: I dont think it was Henrietta, I think it was Clara.
SALENE: Just the one.
PATSY: Yeah. We thought we might give it to Trudy.
CLOE: Cause shes sick.
SALENE: Yeah well Im not so sure shell want it.

BRAY: Trudy? Trudy wake up. Trudy? Trudy? Oh no! Salene!

BRAY: Salene come here quick!

SALENE: Here, you hold her.

SALENE: What is it? Whats up?
BRAY: I cant wake her. Look.
SALENE: Sleeping pills?
BRAY: Shes tried to kill herself; weve got to wake her up.
SALENE: Right. Come on. [SLAPS HER] Trudy wake up you stupid girl!
BRAY: Salene!
SALENE: Well she is, pulling a stunt like this!
BRAY: Trudy can you hear me?
PATSY: Is she going to die?
BRAY: Not if I can help it. Go and get Dal, he might know what to do.
PATSY: Right.
AMBER: What on earth is going on?

JACK: The batteries are gone altogether.
DAL: Theres thousands and thousands in cars out there.
JACK: All flat as pancakes. If only we had a way of recharging them. We could work wonders with this place.
DAL: A car charges its own battery as it goes along right?
JACK: Yeah but we cant start a car on a flat battery.
DAL: Maybe we dont need to, if we could find a way of turning the alternator, thats what charges the batteries.
JACK: Yeah right.
PATSY: Dal! Dal come quick!
DAL: Whats up?
PATSY: Its Trudy! Shes swallowed some pills and she wont wake up!
JACK: Dal!

DAL: Do you know how many shes taken?
AMBER: No, we dont know if the bottle was full or not.
BRAY: What do we do Dal?
DAL: Well wake her up if we can.
SALENE: What happens if we cant?
DAL: Im not sure, I think they go into a coma or get brain damage, or die.
PATSY: Oh no! Shes going to die! Trudys going to die!
AMBER: No shes not, not if we can help it. Look why dont you go back to the café and help Cloe with Brady.
PATSY: Alright.
BRAY: Shes not responding.
DAL: Weve got to get her on her feet.
BRAY: Alright Trudy, come on up.
SALENE: Wake up Trudy! Wake up!
BRAY: Dal you take that side and lift now!
DAL: God shes heavy.
BRAY: Come on Trudy walk.
SALENE: Walk Trudy! Walk!

RYAN: Lex?
LEX: Yes my man.
RYAN: What are you doing?
LEX: Preparing myself for the day.
RYAN: Im trying to get some sleep. Ive been awake all night.
LEX: So? Ive come to the conclusion, youve either got it, or you aint. And well Ive got it.
RYAN: Well Ebony didnt think so, did she?
LEX: It doesnt matter man, what she did.
RYAN: Yeah well Zandra blew you out, Big time.

SALENE: Look shes walking! Come on Trudy, you can do it!
BRAY: Thats a good girl. Well done. Keep it up. Left, right. Move your feet. Yes, you can do it.
DAL: Hold on. Got to have a rest.
BRAY: Okay put her down.
JACK: Easy does it.
BRAY: Wow shes going in.
AMBER: See if you can get her to drink this.
BRAY: What is it?
AMBER: Salt water.
SALENE: Yuck! What are you trying to do?
AMBER: Make her throw up.
DAL: Good idea, empty her stomach.
AMBER: Come on Trudy, youve got to drink this.
TRUDY: No. Dont want to.
AMBER: Just try.
BRAY: Please Trudy!
TRUDY: No leave me alone
AMBER: Trudy come on!

BRAY: Well done Trudy.
JACK: Oh girls. Always doing something stupid.
RYAN: Huh?
JACK: Take my advice Ryan, leave them alone. Be like me, stick to science.

Scene 15
LEX: Morning. Oh whats up with you lot? Somebody die?
AMBER: Almost.
LEX: Ey?
BRAY: Its Trudy, shes ODd on sleeping pills.
LEX: What? Poor kid, is she going to be alright?
BRAY: We think so.
ZANDRA: Fat lot you care! Youre the one who always wanted to chuck her out.
LEX: Hey wait up! I wouldnt wish her any harm.
AMBER: Yeah? You could have fooled me.
LEX: Whyd she want to go and do a thing like that?
AMBER: Why do you think?
ZANDRA: I think it was a stupid thing to do, no mans worth that.
SALENE: I dont think she was really trying to kill herself, I think she was just trying it on.
AMBER: Why would she want to do that?
SALENE: To make everyone feel guilty.
TAI-SAN: Emotional Blackmail.
ZANDRA: Is that what you call it?
TAI-SAN: Id rather call it a cry for help. Thats what most attempted suicides are.
AMBER: And youd know all about it would you?
LEX: She knows about everything, dont you Tai-San?
SALENE: Well I think it was a sneaky thing to do anyway. Scaring everybody like that.
AMBER: Well you would say that. We all know why she did it.
SALENE: Are you trying to blame it on me?
AMBER: No. You cant help it if youve got the hots for Bray.
ZANDRA: Hey Amber, you cant say things like that.
AMBER: Its not her fault, he shouldnt have led her on; youre the one to blame. For messing Trudy around the whole time!
BRAY: I never promised her anything! Except that I would look after her and the baby, thats all!
AMBER: Oh dont give me that! You led her on! All that, look at me Im so wonderful, and caring, Im such a great human being!
BRAY: I couldnt have just left her like that could I? Not in her condition.
AMBER: You brought her here, you took responsibility for her and you let her down. You kicked her in the teeth, thats why she tried to kill herself!
LEX: Good on you Amber, thats telling the skunkard.

AMBER: How is she now?
DAL: The same.
AMBER: Stupid girl. As if we havent got enough problems, I planed to go looking for Paul.
DAL: You go, Ill stay here. Keep an eye on her just in case.
AMBER: We should take turns.
DAL: No, I dont mind, you go.
AMBER: Hey Jack.
JACK: Oh hi. Shes not going to die is she?
AMBER: I dont think so, not now.
JACK: Thats good. Dal?
DAL: Yeah?
JACK: Ive been thinking about that idea of mine.
DAL: What?
JACK: You know, about the batteries.
DAL: Not now Jack.
JACK: I just had a thought-
DAL: Jack! Not now. I cant think about that right now.
JACK: Alright, Ill just go and make a start on my own then, shall I?
DAL: Yeah okay, you do that!
AMBER: Dal, you mustnt blame yourself for any of this.
DAL: I brought the pills, didnt I?
AMBER: You also brought her antibiotics, you saved her life.
DAL: If only Id locked everything away, my parents were so careful about keeping drugs under lock and key, so careful.

LEX: That Bray had it coming to him, you cant treat a girl like that.
TAI-SAN: Like what Lex?
LEX: You know, messing her about and all that.
ZANDRA: You mean, like going with other women?
LEX: Well yeah.
ZANDRA: Course youd never do a thing like that, would you Lex?
LEX: I mean theres the kid and all.
ZANDRA: Its not his kid.
LEX: Well no but
ZANDRA: And hed never asked her to marry him, had he?
LEX: No
ZANDRA: What do you think Tai-San? What do you think of a man whos promised one girl trying to have it off with someone else?
TAI-SAN: I think people worry too much, right Lex?
LEX: Yeah. Yeah right. Thats right.
ZANDRA: Listen to whose talking.
LEX: Youre the one who made such a thing of it. Look if you hadnt been so uptight-
ZANDRA: You wouldnt have wanted to marry me. If you ever really did.
LEX: Maybe Ive changed my mind? Maybe I dont need to anymore.
ZANDRA: No? Its the only way youre going to get what you want.
LEX: Says who?
ZANDRA: Says me. I mean look at you, whod have you?

SALENE: Bray?
BRAY: Hi.
SALENE: What are you doing?
BRAY: Getting my stuff together.
SALENE: Dont. Please dont go. Im as much to blame as you are.
BRAY: No. No its not your fault, you mustnt blame yourself.
SALENE: I cant help it. I wont mind if you want to look after Trudy and the baby, only please dont go.
BRAY: Well Im only going to look for Paul, and get some food so we can all eat.
SALENE: Youre not leaving?
BRAY: No. No Ill be back, honest.
SALENE: Take me with you then.
BRAY: No Salene, its too dangerous out there.
SALENE: I could help you.
BRAY: No, Im better on my own, really.
SALENE: Youre going to meet her, arent you?
BRAY: What? Who?
SALENE: Her. That Ebony.
BRAY: No. Im not going to meet anybody, not if I can help it anyway, okay?
SALENE: Okay, just be careful.
BRAY: Dont worry, I will.
SALENE: Give me a kiss.

JACK: Stupid girls!
RYAN: Whats that?
JACK: My plan to make our own electricity, to store in car batteries.
RYAN: No petrol.
JACK: Well we dont need cars, the alternator makes electricity when you wiz it round, all weve got to do is find a way of turning it fast enough.
RYAN: A bike, you could peddle.
JACK: Ive thought of that, but wed never be able to peddle for long enough.
RYAN: Too hard I suppose.
JACK: Yeah. Well Ive had some really good ideas already, but Im not sure if all of them would work.
RYAN: What does Dal think?
JACK: Why does everybody think I need Dal all the time? I can do it myself! Jeeze!

Scene 20
AMBER: Here.
DAL: Ah. Youre back. Thanks. Any luck with Paul?
AMBER: No. Hes just vanished into thin air.
DAL: Hes a bright kid, hell be alright.
AMBER: Why dont you go and get something to eat? Ill take over here.
DAL: Im not hungry.
AMBER: You should be, youve been here all day, you must be starving.
DAL: Its okay. Really.
AMBER: Suite yourself. She wont appreciate it you know.
DAL: Thats not why Im doing it.
AMBER: I know, all the same.
[Trudy groans]
DAL: Shh. Shes coming around.
TRUDY: Where am I?
DAL: Hi. Welcome back.
TRUDY: What?
AMBER: How are you feeling?
TRUDY: Terrible.
DAL: Dont worry, youll be okay, well look after you.
TRUDY: No, I dont want to be here, I want to be dead!
AMBER: No you dont.
TRUDY: I do! I do!
AMBER: Come on, sit up.
TRUDY: Who is that? Is that Bray?
DAL: No its me, Dal.
TRUDY: I want Bray, why isnt he here?

Scene 21
LEX: You have a good sleep?
RYAN: No thanks to you. What time is it?
LEX: About 3 oclock.
RYAN: Yeah?
LEX: Yeah. You know youre never going to sleep tonight.
RYAN: I can sleep anytime anywhere.
LEX: Ive noticed.
RYAN: So what gives? Hows things with you and Zandra?
LEX: Not good.
RYAN: You going to make it up with her?
LEX: Its not easy. Look can you do me a favour?
RYAN: What?
LEX: Do my guard duty for me tonight.
RYAN: I was on last night.
LEX: Yeah I know. I mean your used to it, and Ill make it worth our while.
RYAN: I dont know.
LEX: And youve had all that sleep, havent you?

Scene 22
JACK: A waterwheel would be best but the streams too far away.
RYAN: Hmm.
JACK: What we need is something that just keeps going round and round under its own steam.
RYAN: Steam?
JACK: Its a bit complicated; steam needs a lot of water
RYAN: Wind.
JACK: Yes! Thats it! Thats what we need a windmill!

Scene 23
CLOE: Henrietta laid us an egg this morning.
PATSY: Or Clara.
TRUDY: What?
CLOE: Weve been saving it especially for you.
PATSY: We thought you might like it. I hope you like it scrambled.
TRUDY: Oh, yeah.
AMBER: You should eat it, it will do you good.
TRUDY: You sound more like my mom every day.
AMBER: Yeah well, someones got to look after you I suppose.
TRUDY: Thanks. And thank you both. Has Paul come back yet? Sorry.

Scene 24
JACK: Dal.
DAL: Yeah?
JACK: Ive got something to show you.
DAL: What?
JACK: Look.
DAL: A windmill?
JACK: A perfect battery-charging machine. We use wind power to turn the alternator connected to the battery-
DAL: And charge it up, right? Brill. But I dont think this windmill is going to work though.
JACK: Yeah, I know that, its just the principle. I thought id give you a chance to have some input at this stage.
DAL: Yeah?
JACK: Yeah well I dont want to keep it all to myself do I? That would be selfish, wouldnt it?

Scene 25
LEX: Tai-San? Tai-San you okay?
TAI-SAN: What?
LEX: Im sorry.
TAI-SAN: I was meditating. Achieving inner calm. You should try it some time.
LEX: Yeah. Maybe you could teach me.
TAI-SAN: If your serious.
LEX: Oh Im serious alright. We could start tonight.
TAI-SAN: Tonight?
LEX: Yeah. I talked Ryan into doing my guard duty.
TAI-SAN: Why?
LEX: What do you mean why? So we can have the place to ourselves, like last night.
TAI-SAN: No. I dont think so, not tonight.
LEX: But I thought well after last night it was pretty good, wasnt it?
TAI-SAN: Quite good, yes, thank you.
LEX: Well then
TAI-SAN: That was last night, tonight is different.
LEX: But why? I mean you and me-
TAI-SAN: There is no you and me. Ill let you know when Im ready again, okay?

Scene 26
DAL: Its going to be really hard making the sails and making sure the whole thing doesnt blow over.
JACK: I thought if we could get a bike wheal we could fix them to that.
DAL: Hmmm maybe hang on, Ive got it!
JACK: What?
DAL: You know those signs they used to have outside shops, which went round and round in the breeze?
JACK: Yeah I remember, you kept on seeing the two sides.
DAL: Yeah. They were sort of in an S shape, kind of like this.
JACK: So the whole thing keeps turning.
DAL: Right. Then we use a can to create a-
ZANDRA: Hi Trud. Feeling better now?
JACK: Create a what?
ZANDRA: Look, heres Brady, your own little baby. I hope you havent been too worried about her.
DAL: Zandra I dont think Trudy
ZANDRA: You dont have to worry, shes been good as gold. Do you want her now?
DAL: Well thank you Zandra.
ZANDRA: What did I do?
DAL: Its all too much for her. She cant handle it.
JACK: Dal, what about the windmill?
DAL: Tomorrow, Ive got to go and look after Trudy.

Scene 27
AMBER: You decided to come back then?
BRAY: I found some good stuff.
AMBER: So? You want me to pat you on the head or something?
BRAY: Hows Trudy?
AMBER: How do you think? She cried herself to sleep.
BRAY: Ill go see her.
DAL: She doesnt need you disturbing her.
BRAY: I wont wake her, Ill just keep an eye on her.
AMBER: Dals been doing that all day.
BRAY: Yeah well thanks Dal, Ill take over now.
DAL: I think it would be best if you kept away from her.
BRAY: What?
DAL: Trudy needs somebody she can rely on, not someone who keeps disappearing and letting her down. She doesnt need you, okay?
